With shared origin between France and Belgium, Bichon Frisé is an ancient and noble race that has gained popularity in Europe since the Renaissance time. According to the Brazilian Confederation of Cinophilia (CBKC), during the 17th and 18th centuries, these small dogs of white and curly hair were constant presence in European courts and even portrayed by renowned painters alongside kings and nobles.
The name “Bichon” derives from the word “Barbichon”, a variation of “Barbet”, a race from which he descends. Already “Frisé” refers to the curly hair that is one of its brands recorded. After almost disappearing due to the world wars, Bichon Frisé was rescued by passionate creators and returned to gain space as one of the most beloved and charming dogs in the world.
