Julie Butler (55), the mother of two children and grandmother, faces the most difficult life test. After two years of health complications and a delayed operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was diagnosed with colon cancer at an advanced stage. Julie is fighting not only for his life today, but also for the hope of special treatment in Germany, writes

Julie initially assumed that benign myomas were behind her gaining and abdominal pain. Doctors recommended hysterectomy in 2020, but due to the pandemic the procedure was postponed until two years. Meanwhile, she suffered from extreme bloating and loss of mobility.

The turning point occurred in September 2022, when it was hospitalized with bowel obstruction. Surgeons removed part of her intestine during the procedure and discovered two unexpected tumors. Biopsy confirmed colon cancer in the third stage. Despite surgery and later chemotherapy, the disease has spread to the lungs, liver and spleen and diagnosed the fourth stage of cancer.

Despite three aggressive chemotherapy, cancer continues to progress. Julie and her husband Robert (54) who works as a gardener now They put hope in the treatment of TACE (transarterial chemoembolization) – targeted chemotherapy combined with blocking the blood supply to the tumor. This treatment is only available to patients with primary liver cancer in the British NHS, but not for those who have metastasis like Julie.

The family has therefore launched a collection to get £ 40,000 for treatment in Germany. “If we don’t try, Julie will die. We have no choice. We are still waiting for blood tests, but we hope to travel soon,” Robert said.

Julie, who also survived an unfavorable forecast of three months of life, hopes to get a second chance due to the generosity of donors. “There have been people who help us. It’s like a miracle. It shows that there is still good in the world,” she concluded.
