The Russian, former number 1 in the world, has not won a tournament in the circuit since 2023

“Enemy” declared of the clay, the world’s current number 11 in the world, fell in the first round of the fifth time in his career, defeated on Tuesday (27) by Briton Cameron Norrie (n.83). Playing on Simonne-Mathieu, Medvedev recovered after losing 2 sets at 0, but was defeated with 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6 and 7-5 partials.

The Russian, former number 1 in the world, has not won a tournament in the circuit since 2023 and amended his second premature failure in Grand Slams, after the defeat in the second round of Australia Open in January. His best campaign in Roland Garros was in 2021, when he reached the quarterfinals. This is the fourth elimination of Medvedev in the first round of the Parisian tournament, after 2017, 2020 and 2023, the latter with defeat to Brazilian Thiago Wild.
