Meet Hubert Hurkacz, João Fonseca’s rival in the debut of Roland Garros

João Fonseca will face the Polish Hubert Hurkacz in the first round of Roland Garros on Tuesday (27), from 12h (from Brasilia).

Currently, the Brazilian occupies the 65th position in the ATP ranking, while Hurkacz is in 28th position.

Hubert Hurkacz suit

born February 11, 1997 in Wrocław, Poland, is a professional tennis player who stands out in the ATP circuit. He reached his best position in the world ranking on August 5, 2024, occupying 6th place.

Hurkacz started his professional career in 2015. Since then, he has won 8 simple titles on the ATP circuit, including two Masters 1000 titles: Miami Open in 2021 and Shanghai Masters in 2023. His latest title was at Estoril Open in 2024, where he beat Pedro Martinez in the final.

In his last competition before Roland Garros, Hurkacz was runner-up at the Geneva ATP 250, losing to Novak Djokovic in a disputed final.

Destro and with two -handed backhand, Hurkacz is known for his powerful withdrawal and solid block set. His ability on quick courts is remarkable, but he has also demonstrated consistent performance on clay surfaces.

This Tuesday, Hubert Hurkacz will face the Brazilian for the Paris. This will be the first duel between the two players in the professional circuit.
