A 20 -year -old woman stabbed her own daughter, 2 years and 7 months, and then tried to take her life in Santo Antônio do Discoberto (GO), a city located about 40 km from Brasilia. In a statement to the Civil Police, the woman said she was being threatened by loan sharks due to debts accumulated with bets on the “Tigrinho” game. According to her, the motivation for the crime was the despair caused by the charges.
The crime occurred on Friday afternoon (23/5), around 4 pm, in block 50 of the Mansões Bittencourt neighborhood. Before the attack, the woman left a farewell letter explaining the plan. After severely injuring the child, he tried to cut his own wrists and neck, but the injuries were superficial. He then ingested several medications and called the former partner, the girl’s father, informing what he had done.

The child’s father went to the scene, rescued his daughter and took her to the Hospital of Santo Antônio do Discoberto. Due to the severity of the injuries, the girl was transferred to the Taguatinga Regional Hospital. According to delegate Nathália Luz, the child suffered piercing the neck and chest, but only one of them was deep. “Despite the number of blows, she was discharged on Saturday (24/5) and is out of danger,” said the delegate.
The mother was also rescued and taken to the municipality hospital, where she underwent gastric washing. After the service, he was arrested in the act by police from the 52nd Military Police Battalion. The arrest was converted into preventive.
