“Immigration is important, but it has to be controlled,” warned the mayor of Loures. Tents at 3,000 euros are one of the housing problems.
Ricardo Loures released controversial statements at the end of last year, when he commented on the riots following the death of Odair Moniz, Cape Verdean shot by a public security police officer.
At a local meeting, the mayor of Loures argued that the tenants of municipal housing who participated in these protests should be dumped. One dump said in October.
More than half a year later, Ricardo Leão again commented on two of the most sensitive subjects in the country: housing e immigration.
In the Summit site, the mayor warned that there are many immigrants who live in conditions that are not even worthy: “We have a drama that are people inhumanly living supported by networks. It is not for building a tent that is entitled to housing.”
At the Belém Cultural Center, Ricardo Leão defended heavy hand to combat this problem. “If you don’t have sheriff you are bastard”cites, when the mayor of Loures spoke about the stalls that are sold to 3,000 euroswhen they are not even able to be someone’s home. And he pointed again: the fault is “from the networks that are assembled”.
“The first housing responsibility is the government” but, considers Ricardo, the responsibility to end this problem “is everyone”.
Ricardo Leão continued: “We have to look at the problems and solve them, this is how Kill populism“.
The mayor also warned that the Zero licensing, government initiative, was the “Worst thing” that happened to Municipalities – which, he claims, “ceased to have any kind of power”, including oversight.
Zero licensing tries to simplify and accelerate licensing processes for various economic activities. But it should be reviewed, argues Ricardo Leão, who wanted the municipal police had more power.
“Right now, Many establishments serve as a façade for fictitious employment contracts and to serve as accommodation when they cannot be. It is important to create a mechanism because this is creating huge problems, ”he explained.
“In some of these establishments, such as Kebabs, I don’t see any clients there. How do they keep each other?”Asked the president of Loures’s municipality.
Ricardo Leão will again be a candidate for the presidency of the Loures City Council.
