The enemy of the spiders is noise
We can argue about what suits the spiders or they are most concerned about. However, a study published in the prestigious Current Biology magazine, which dealt with the species of Larinioides Sclopetarius, was also clear about this. This is a common species of spider found in cities. He usually seeks refuge on buildings or street lighting. However, it can also be hidden in the cellar or elsewhere in buildings.
It turned out that the great enemy of spiders was noise. It is probably not a strictly sound, but a vibration that arises when noise spread. For this reason, spiders in cities are mostly hidden and find refuge in places where they are at least partially protected from these vibrations.
It’s quite logical. In the countryside, where there is significantly less noise due to lower transport and the absence of various other sources of sounds and vibrations, spiders can meet significantly more often. They do not hide so much and are very active.
How to expel spiders from the house?
Scientists described spiders who were exposed to sound as confused and still. Thanks to vibrations, spiders were unable to perceive their surroundings, which is a big problem for the predator, such as a spider, which makes it impossible to catch prey and survival.
Although this novelty could please a lot, the truth is that we are not downright enthusiastic about excess noise. We also enjoy the peace of nature and the countryside. So how can we use this knowledge?
It seems that not only unpleasant odors, such as vinegar or various essential oils, but also vibrations or noise, will not work against spiders. Some of the electronic spiders use this use this. They make sounds that are inaudible for the human ear and the hearing of pets, while irritating the spiders enough to avoid these places.
Although vibrations can help significantly, the effect is not immediate and it is definitely recommended to clean and repellent odors, which together with vibrations will speed up the departure of the spider from your home.
