Czech ex -prime minister and chairman of the opposition movement YES Andrej Babiš stressed on Tuesday before the court that he was not involved in the project Farm Čapí Nnído (FCH) because he managed Holding Agrofert. He responded to the testimony of the key witness Jan Bareš, who served as a construction supervision at the FCH and Babiš was his only superior. He also pointed out that ZZN Pelhřimov, which later became FČH, was not entitled to the subsidy, but still asked for it, reports TASR newsletter in Prague.
Bareš said that Babiš wanted to sell the project first because it was clear that it would not be profitable. Then he decided to finish it and give it to the children. The witness stressed that he dealt with everything about the project directly with Babiš. “I had the only supervisor, and that was Mr. Babiš,” he said.
Babiš refused to have a big role in the project as Bareš. He stressed that he was driving Agrofert. “I started in Agrofert with four employees, I gradually bought a thousand companies. Some company was under my resolution. I don’t know anything about it at all,” he said. He noted that Agrofert strictly adheres to Czech laws.
In the testimony, Bareš recalled that originally the FČH project fell under the Imoba company, which was part of Agrofert. It was not entitled to a subsidy for this type of project because it was not a small business.
After the Czech ex -prime minister decided to continue the project, he said to Bareš that he had ZZN Pelhřimov, which is unnecessary and could be used on FCH. Bareš warned him that this company does not meet the conditions of the subsidy that Jana Nagyová wanted to apply for because he has no employees and does not enter into tourism. Therefore, he wanted to warn Babiš that this decision is not good and that he should rather buy a company that is doing business in tourism. This was said to be refused by the ex -prime minister that he would not buy another company when he has one that is “useless”. According to him, Nagyová responded to Bareš’s reservations by saying that she didn’t mind and the subsidy will ensure.
The President of the Judicial Senate Eva Brazdilová asked the witness what it was earlier, whether the decision to earn the ZVN Pelhřimov from Agrofert or the consideration of the use of the subsidy. Bareš replied that Nagyová took care of the subsidy continuously. “If there was no allocation, the subsidy would not be possible,” he added.
Brazdilová announced that the judgment would not sound this week, even if the taking of evidence is completed. She complied with the defense so that she could prepare the final speech in which she wants to respond to the supplemented justification of the public representative’s appeal. At the afternoon, the court summoned the expert Vítězslav Hálk.
