Scientists have found the most unbearable pain that a person may experience – he even surpasses birth on the intensity scale. This pain can cause complete physical and emotional exhaustion.
What pain is the strongest?
All people feel very different because there is a different pain threshold for everyone, but there is a general opinion that there is the strongest pain that a woman can experience. As it turned out, this is not true.
The study listed the strongest types of pain that people may experience, including childbirth, gunshot wounds and intervertebral disc hernia.
Childbirth took second place, and cluster headaches unexpectedly came first. Such pain can occur several times a day and last weeks or months.
They may break for a while (a week, a month or a year), or may not have any break between headaches.
Symptoms of a cluster headache
The main symptoms of a cluster headache are:
- Sharp, burning or curling pain, usually on one side of the head, around the eye
- Headaches occurring at the same time of year or at certain times of the day
- Headaches that start and end quickly, without warning
- Headaches lasting from 15 minutes to three hours
According to scientists, cluster headaches suffer from about one in 1,000 people.

Evaluation of pain intensity
American scientists have concluded that cluster headaches are more painful than childbirth, stab wound and pancreatitis.
They asked for 1604 persons to evaluate the intensity of the pain they experienced during the attack compared to other painful conditions.
The participants had to evaluate the pain for each condition on a scale of 0 to 10, and any score over seven was classified as “strong”.
Cluster headaches received an average of 9.7 out of 10 and the pain of childbirth was rated at 7.2 points.
Pancreatitis is a condition of the pancreas for a short time, ranked third with 7 points.
The kidney stones (6.9), bile stones (6.3) and a gunshot wound were followed by a surprisingly low 6 -point estimate.
This is followed by a migraine attack with 5.4 points, fibromyalgia with 5.2 points and bone fracture, as well as 5.2 points.
The heart attack and the rushed, which occurs when the seating nerve passing from the lower back to the toe is irritated or compressed, received a 5.0 -point pain assessment and the stab wound 4.9 and the straps of 4.6.
