Palestinian health officials reported on Wednesday that a person was shot dead and 48 were injured during the first day of food delivery to the population of Gaza on Tuesday (27).
During the riot caused by the cluster of people seeking humanitarian aid, Israeli troops fired warning shots, and American employees, who supervised the site, withdrawn for a moment.
Wafiq qdeih, who had gone hoping to receive help, said, “They want order, but there will be no order because they are desperate people who want to eat and drink.”
“The Israeli army was shooting up, and the Americans and their employees retreated, making it impossible to distribute help to the population.”
They said to CNN who were grateful for the food they received but described long walks to reach the distribution center, rows of hours and widespread confusion.
“The place is a long way and we fight until there is. I’m tired and exhausted. How can they provide food for all these people? There are many people here; security will not be able to control them all,” said Abu Ramzi.
One pushed the population of the territory, from more than 2 million Palestinians, for hunger and an increasingly deep humanitarian crisis, with the first resumption of humanitarian aid coming slowly.
Videos from the distribution site in Tel Al-Sultan, showed large crowds invading the facilities, overthrowing some of the fences and apparently casting barriers designed to control the flow of the crowd.
GHF said it had distributed about 8,000 food boxes, totaling 462,000 meals in Gaza so far.
The organization states that the flow of meals will increase every day, with the goal of delivering food to 1.2 million people – 60% of the population of Gaza – by the end of the week.
