The Director General of Federal Police (PF), Andrei Rodriguesis expected on Wednesday (28) in a public hearing in the Chamber of Deputies to discuss the operation that revealed the fraud of associative discounts on the retirees and pensioners of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).

The hearing will be held at the Public Security and Combating Organized Crime Commission from 10am and meets the request of Deputies Delegate Paulo Bilynskyj (PL-SP) and Cabo Gilberto Silva (PL-PB).

Deputies claim that the hearing seeks to clarify whether PF investigations are being conducted independently and impartially, without any interference from the federal government to disrupt the process.

In justification for the request, Silva states that the press reported a meeting between President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and representatives of.

For him, the meeting “raises serious doubts about the possibility of interference from the executive branch in the ongoing investigations”.

Billynskyi justified the request based on news released by the press that one of those investigated in the operation would have been escorted by Federal Police officers at Brasilia airport, even without legal prerogative or formal act that justified such security measure.

“The episode raises serious doubts about the legality of the use of the police force for private purposes, the eventual political interference in the operation of the Federal Police and the administrative responsibility of its hierarchical superiors,” he says.

Fraud

The Federal Police, with the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), was responsible for revealing the National Scheme of Associative Discounts not authorized in retirement and pensions.

The entities would have charged retirees and pensioners an estimated amount of $ 6 billion between 2019 and 2024.

The operation began from the identification of the significant increase in discounts and the growth of retirees in relation to unauthorized charges.

In April, all technical cooperation agreements of the associative entities were suspended. The government now studies ways to compensate for the impaired.
