The former deputy declared support to former Minister Edinho Silva for the national presidency of the open letter to militancy, released on Monday (26).
“Edinho has a vast experience in the direction of the PT and the governments he directed and participated,” says former Chief Chief of the Civil House of the First Government (PT). “He knows the parliamentary world and comes from a life of struggles, in the pastoral pastoral and worker of the Catholic Church.”
Edinho was chancelled by CNB (building a new Brazil) last week. At a meeting at the National Directorate in Brasilia, the PT’s majority current closed with its name practically unanimously, especially after the mayor of Maricá (RJ), Washington Quaquá.
Edinho has the informal support of President Lula. Although he does not interfere with the dispute directly, he has made clear to allies that the former minister of (PT) is his favorite to the Plateau and placed the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, party president until this year, to help in this interlocution.
In the letter, Dirceu speaks of “unifying the left”, but waves to the center, as has done Edinho. “The conjuncture and the conditions we govern require from us the ability to make broader wedding rings than the center-left,” says Lula’s former articulator.
At the other end, Dirceu also reinforces ancient PT guidelines. He speaks of facing pockets and “neo -fascism”, without losing sight of the current Lula administration, such as taxation of great fortunes, income tax revision and land reform.
“The PT and the left remains the historical task of completing the unfinished Brazilian social revolution,” says Dirceu. “It requires two conditions: national sovereignty and independence, on the one hand, and democracy, on the other, in a world where we need to have a side, fight against the far right and neo-fascism.”
Edinho’s main opponent is Deputy Rui Falcão (PT-SP), former party president. Rui has contested the “institutionalization” of the former mayor of Araraquara (SP), with the support of the Planalto, and preached, in turn, a trip to the left of the party.
