Even better than from nettle. Your plants will love fertilizer from this weed

Field horsetail is a perennial plant with a very deep root system, thanks to which can extract minerals from deeper soil layers. Contains, among others:

  • silica (silicic acid) – strengthens the cell walls of plants, improving their mechanical resistance and reducing susceptibility to fungal infections,
  • potassium – regulates water management and supports flowering and fruiting,
  • Calcium and magnesium – necessary for the proper growth and functioning of plant cells,
  • Flavonoids and saponins – have antiseptic properties and can protect plants.

These natural relationships make the horsetail an extremely effective preventive measurewhich can be used both as and spraying against fungal diseases.

Gnojówka from the horsetail is fermented water lift, which acts mainly as and as a natural protective preparation. Its basic advantages are:

  • Antifungal effect – effectively limits the development of such diseases as powdery mildew and alleged, gray mold, scab or rust.
  • Strengthening plant tissues – thanks to the silica content of plants, the plant becomes less susceptible to mechanical damage and pests.
  • Improvement of general resistance – used regularly, increases resistance to abiotic stress, e.g. drought or rapid temperature changes.
  • Natural deterrence of some pests – although this effect is less intense than in the case of other plants (e.g. tansy), liquid manure may limit the activity of aphids and spider mites.

The process of creating a slurry is simple, although it requires a few days of patience. It can be made of easily available ingredients, practically without costs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of fresh (or approx. 150-200 g dried),
  • 10 liters of water (preferably rainwater or nailed tap water).

Preparation method:

  1. Cut the plant into smaller fragments and place in a plastic or wooden dish.
  2. Pour water, leaving some space on the surface.
  3. Cover with gauze or mesh – so that insects do not get inside, but provide air access.
  4. Fermen for 10-14 days, stirring every day. The manure is ready when it stops foaming and acquires an intense, characteristic smell.
  5. Strain and pour into closed containers. It can be stored for several months in a cool, shady place.

In order for manure to be effective and safe for plants, it should be properly diluted and used as intended.

Do :

Fertilizer in proportion 1 part of the slurry for 4-5 parts of water. Preventive use every 1-2 weeks on the list, especially before high humidity periods.

For watering:

Fertilizer in proportion 1 part of the slurry for 10 parts of water. Application – watering the plant at the root, especially vegetables and herbs – not more often than every 2 weeks.

Attention: Do not use a too strong solution – The horsetail has slightly acidifying properties and can be irritating to young leaves. It is best to avoid spraying in full sun so as not to burn plants.
