Being peacocks in his own garden may sound like a bold idea, but that’s what his charm is. These majestic birds with their strikingly colored tail can bring a piece of exotic to the Czech gardens and offer an unusual way to revive the outdoor space. Although the breeding of peacocks in our country is still quite unusual, it is not at all unattainable! It only requires a little more care, patience and above all a suitable background. Moreover, peacocks are not only beautiful, but also remarkably intelligent and can create a solid bond to the environment in which they live.

How to start breeding peacocks in your home
If you sometimes decide to breed peacocks, be aware that it is not only financial but also time investment. These beautiful birds are not common “courtyards” and need to be well prepared for the new environment. The basic rule is: never let them out too early. Young individuals must first be bred in the Brooder, a heated space with a temperature of around 35 ° C, which is gradually decreasing. Teen birds should be in a closed but bright enclosure for several months, where they get used to the environment and you as breeders. Otherwise, there is a risk that you will never see them again after the first start.
When the peacocks get used to the new environment, ideally after six to eight weeks, you can carefully release them. But it is important that they feel safe in the presence of a person before. If they crouch in the corner and avoid contact, it is not the right time. If you keep a couple, we recommend that you discharge the individuals gradually. First, for example, a female, which is more social. Peacocks tend to remain near a place they know well and where they know they will find food. They are great seekers and can find different types of insects, including ticks or smaller reptiles. Once they get used to and have enough space for them, they can be almost self -sufficient. However, keep in mind that they like to roam! They are larger explorers than hens, so it may sometimes happen that IUs find themselves.
How to accommodate peacocks
For peacock breeding, it is crucial to provide them with a suitable background, especially if you do not want to let them freely over the trees. The ideal solution is a spacious aviary that will resemble a large poultry run, but with a higher ceiling and a firmly covered structure. Free moving individuals often choose high branches or roofs to sleep, and if they do not have a solid shelter, they can suffer in winter. In frosty or rainy weather, they pull into a barn or other shelter, but if they decide to stay outside, it can be fatal for them. In the winter months, it is therefore important that they have access to the dry and leeward space with plenty of straw and if possible without drafts.
So the breeding of peacocks is not only about beauty, but also about responsibility. These birds can be unpretentious and impressive at the same time, but require respect for their nature and life rhythm. If you give them time to get used to, a suitable environment and a little attention, they can become an original part of your garden for many years. And even if you are sometimes surprised by their loud calling or as far as they wander, the presence of peacock on the land will bring a little excitement into the everyday routine.
