Bormio – Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates) celebrated his first stage victory at the Giro d’Italia on Wednesday and successfully defended the pink jersey against its pursuers. The cycling professional from Mexico won the 17th stage of San Michele All’adige via the Passo del Mortirolo to Bormio after a perfectly timed sprint. At the end of the last climb of Romain Bardet and Richard Carapaz, del Toro dismissed himself and expanded his overall lead.
