“In May moisture, cold …” – this means an old farm pitch

Are they right in something? That’s a question. After all, some folk wisdom is reflected in them. Or not? Judge for yourself.

Did the cold May surprise you?

We know well what ice men can do in the garden, and Medard’s hoods are not surprising. But do you know what an old farmer’s pranosika says about moisture and cold in May?

May or May, is an important month not only for lovers, but mainly for farmers, gardeners and gardeners. There is no doubt that all the owners of fields, beds and gardens are waiting for the second half of May, which should be warmer and simple frost and cold nights. This year, however, this rule has not been confirmed everywhere. It was necessary to wait significantly longer for planting thermophilic plants.

What awaits us after the cold May?

If we enjoyed something just this May, then it’s cold and rain. Many of us troubled the vagaries of the weather and in some parts of the country they also cooked young seedlings or blooming trees. According to the old praniostika, however, we should not be sad. How?

“In the May damp – will be wine, there will be wheat to the bottom.” This is proclaimed by the old Czech praniost but forecast and traditional folk saying. We all understand the parts of “wine”. The statement “will be wheat on the bottom” sounds in all sorts of kind, but both say that it will be an excellent crop.

This is also the other prannostika, which is “cold May – in the barn paradise”. So let’s be surprised and hopefully in the best possible harvest.

If the planting is a little delay, it does not mean that it will not be born at all. And if the plants have enough moisture in May, it is definitely not as bad as it might seem.

Of course, this is not true for frozen flowers, from which the fruits certainly do not develop.

May is over

Didn’t she convince you and did you calm the May Pranostika? Don’t do anything about it. The corner is already June! Czech pranostics also say, “June cold – farmer shrugs”. After all, he has left.

Some folk wisdom looks even further and claims that “if June is mild, frost will not be strong in December.” We will have to wait half a year to see if it is true or a superstition.
