The president (PT) took advantage of a ceremony of signing works related to the transposition of the São Francisco River, in Pernambuco, to point out the paralysis of the past federal government and give a message about next year’s elections.
“We can not vote for any junk to rule this country,” he said, who fulfills two agendas in the Northeast on Wednesday (28).
“The commitment you have to have is not with me, it is with your children, it is with your grandchildren, it is with your parents. We can not vote for any junk to govern this country. We need to vote for people who have commitment, who have dignity,” said the president.
“Because this country can no longer suffer the setback we have suffered in the last six years,” added the president, before citing numbers of works of houses and day care centers that would have been paralyzed during the period of predecessor, ().
Without quoting the name of the former president, Lula said that the past government “has been lying to the people four years, doing fake news, even against Covid.”
In Pernambuco, Lula participated in the signing of the Service Order, in the amount of R $ 491.3 million, to double the water pumping capacity on the northern axis of the São Francisco Integration Project, in the pumping stations that are in the cities of Cabrobó, Terra Nova and Salgueiro.
The president’s plane landed in the morning in Juazeiro do Norte (CE), where Lula was received by the governor of Elmano de Freitas (PT) and the governor of Raquel Lyra (PSD). Then the petista followed a helicopter to Salgueiro (PE), where the signing ceremony of the work order took place.
According to the Federal Government, the work on the North Axis expands the capacity of 24.75 cubic meters per second to 49 and benefits 237 municipalities in the states of Pernambuco, Ceará, Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte. The work must be completed in January 2028.
In his speech, the Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, spoke about the impact of the transposition work for the population, which began in Lula’s first term. “In 2023, when we assumed, we found the transposition practically stopped,” he said, in reference to the previous government.
The past government also received criticism from Minister Rui Costa (PT). “Instead of welcoming and talking to governors and mayors, he [Bolsonaro] Pursued, he paralyzed works. Lula resumed dialogue and understanding, regardless of political party, “said the head of the Civil House in his speech.
“About the Northeast, the story can be divided between before Lula and after Lula,” Costa exalted.
Governor Elmano de Freitas also praised President Lula by remembering that Rio’s transposition work had been spoken for centuries “, but” needed a son of the Pernambuco backlands to take the work out of paper. “
Rachel Lyra endorsed the importance of the work and reacted to some boos of the audience.
“There is a lot more that unites us here at this stage than it separates us and what unites us is the love for our state. Election time is an era of election. Now it’s time for unity to make our state grow, but not leave anyone behind and, for that, president, we always need the Lord,” she said.
After the agenda in Pernambuco, Lula goes to Paraíba, where he participates in the inauguration of stretch 1 of the Apodi Ramal, in the municipality of Cachoeira dos Índios. With 115.5 km long, the structure connects the Caiçara Dam (PB) to the Angicos Dam (RN).
The work, which began in 2021, has scheduled delivery in October 2026. The investment is $ 1.45 billion. According to the federal government, the branch will serve about 750,000 people in 54 municipalities of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte.
