Hoffmann
The minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, said that the action of the President of the Commission, Marcos Rogério (PL-RO), and Senator Plínio Valério was “inadmissible”.
“Totally offensive and disrespectful to the minister, women and citizen,” he published in X.
Anielle Franco
In a video, the Minister of Racial Equality, Anielle Franco, stressed that Marina is a personal friend who was “disrespected, interrupted, silenced, attacked” while performing her function.
“As a black woman, as a minister, as a terrace companion, I feel deeply every gesture of disrespect as if it were with me. Because it is with all of us. Gender and race political violence tries to shut up every day, but we stand, holding hands, reaffirming that we will not be interrupted.”
Márcia Lopes
The front of the women’s folder since early May, Márcia Lopes said she is “terrified” with the attack on Marina. “Terrible and unnameable. We will never be prepared to receive any aggression,” he told the CNN.
In a statement, the minister also stated that Marina ”was disrespected and assaulted as a woman and as minister by several parliamentarians” and although the episode is “misogynist” and asked that there is “retraction” for the lines and “accountability so that it does not repeat”.
Margareth Menezes
The Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, provided solidarity and argued that the situation was “another unacceptable episode of political violence.”
“It is revolting to watch the disrespect and attempted silencing of a woman. Marina is not alone. We will follow together, firm. They will not pass,” argued in X.
SONIA GUAJAJARA
The Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sonia Guajajara, stated that Marina represented the government in the Senate with “seriousness, responsibility and knowledge about the environmental issue that few people accumulate in Brazil”.
“What happens in the Senate is an attack on Marina’s figure, as a woman, minister and as an environmental defender. It’s no wonder they want to approve the PL of devastation, this is a project of destruction of our future. Marina, my friend, count on all my solidarity and support. We’ll face this setback together, because it’s a fight for the best of Brazil”, at X.
Cunning
On Instagram, the first lady Janja Lula da Silva stated that it is “impossible not to be outraged by the disrespects” that happened during the audience.
“Marina Silva is a minister who deserves extreme respect. He implemented policies that contributed significantly to deforestation in our country, and his dedicated work makes Brazil increasingly a reference in actions to combat climate change.”
“A woman recognized worldwide for her performance regarding environmental preservation will never bow to a bunch of misogynists who do not have the decency to face a minister of her greatness,” he said.
