The investigation in Brazil revealed a criminal network that planned the murder of judges and politicians. Police have taken an extensive action in connection with the activities of the Gang.
The Brazilian Federal Police detained five people on Wednesday for suspected membership of an organized group that was created to monitor and murder politicians and high -ranking judges. This was stated by the police in a statement referred to by Reuters, TASR writes.
The gang was a retired colonel along with several civilians, he said a source familiar with the investigation. Last year, the police seized a document that the gang was called Comando C4 (Commando for Communists, Corruptees and Criminals).
As baits were to use prostitutes
A document published on the Brazilian UOL portal states that the gang charged 250,000 Reals (EUR 39,000) for killing the Supreme Federal Court judge or one of the highest state courts, 150,000 Reals (24,400 euros) for the murder (7800 euros) for a “ordinary person”. Gang members were allegedly equipped with rifles and explosives and used prostitutes as bait.
Police investigation began after last year’s murder of a lawyer in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso. However, it is not clear whether he was behind this murder, or whether it has ever caused harm to any high -ranking Brazilian representative.
UOL portal reported that the 68-year-old Retired Colonel Etevaldo Luiz Caçadini de Vargas has been in custody since January 2024 for suspicion of participating in the murder of a lawyer. His advocates argue that there is no evidence against him and the police have only a testimony of one accused, but allegedly obtained torture.
