The new Pope has already made changes in Slovakia: these two men have changed life!

Pope Leo XIV. appointed on Tuesday as the Ordinar of the Armed Forces (OS) and the Armed Corps (OZ) of the Slovak Republic Pavel Šajgalík. It is a spiritual administrator of the Slovak Catholic Mission in Switzerland, which until 2019 performed the priestly service in the Ordinaria of OS and OZ SR. At the same time, the Holy Father accepted the renunciation of the pastoral management of the Ordinariat František Rábek. TASR informed the press office of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia (KBS).

“On behalf of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia, I cordially congratulate Father Pavel to appoint him as a bishop and ordinar. The chairman of the KBS, the Archbishop of Košice Metropolitan Bernard Bober. At the same time, he thanked Rábek as the first Ordinár OS and OZ SR for his long -term and dedicated service. “His work has left an indelible trace and was a blessing for many soldiers, cops, prison chaplains and other security forces,” noted.

Shagalík was consecrated as a priest on August 15, 1993. Since that year to 2005 he has held several authorities in the Slovak province of the smaller Capuchin brothers. In 2004 he joined the Ordinariat OS and OZ SR, where he worked as a police chaplain in Bratislava. Between 2006 and 2019 he was a member of the priestly council. He also achieved a doctorate from pastoral theology at the University of Vienna. He also worked as a hospital chaplain in the hospital of St. Michal in Bratislava.

In the Ordinariat OS and OZ SR, he also worked as a vicar representative, a police dean in Bratislava and a member of the Synod of the Synod of the Ordinariat. Since 2019 he has been a spiritual administrator of the Slovak Catholic Mission in Switzerland with his residence in Zurich.
