Shortly after arrival on the shore, the Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested. According to the court in the Leningrad region, the French claims that he wanted to settle in Russia. Cases of illegal border crossings
In May 2023, Russian news sites RBK and Fontanka.ru reported a similar case. The Russian border guards then detained a Slovak, who in neoprene clothing illegally came to the Russian Leningrad region from Estonia also across the Narva River. The man allegedly floated across the river with a children’s swimming wheel on which he had a backpack with personal things. For example, there were sneakers, plastic bags or towels. The Slovak apparently held pro -Russian views and decided to emigrate to Russia for price increases, his disagreement with the European Union policy and the growing acceptance of LGBT in the West.
