A violent explosion shook the tranquility of a street in Illinois, United States last Saturday, when a truck that transported propane exploded, causing significant damage to at least four dwellings.
The impact of the outbreak was so strong that several residents reported feeling the floor shake, comparing the moment to the feeling of an earthquake. Fragments of the vehicle were designed against neighboring houses, increasing the material damage and the fright among the inhabitants of the area.
According to local authorities, the accident was caused by a propane leakage – a highly flammable gas, often used in heating systems and grills. Despite the magnitude of the explosion, the driver of the truck escaped with slight injuries and was assisted at the scene.
Emergency services responded promptly, isolating the area and ensuring that there was no additional risk to residents. The investigation into the exact origin of the leak is underway, in order to prevent similar situations from recurring.
