President proposes that neighbor pay $ 61 billion for defense system; free alternative would be integration as 51st state
United States President Donald Trump (Republican Party), said on Thursday (27.MAI.2025) that Canada is expected to pay $ 61 billion to join the US antimysis system, called Golden Dome. According to him, if the country agrees to be incorporated into the United States as the 51st state, protection would be offered at no cost.
The proposal was published in the Truth Social Network. “I told Canada, who really wants to be part of our fabulous golden dome system, that this will cost $ 61 billion if they continue to be a separate but unequal nation, but will cost zero dollars if they become our dear 51st state.”wrote Trump.
In the same publication, Trump stated that Canada would be “Considering the offer”. However, the Canadian government has already publicly discarded any possibility of annexation.
Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has defended Canada’s incorporation into the United States territory. During the Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carnery, held on May 6 at the Oval Hall, the US President said the map “It would be very beautiful” with the union between the 2 countries.
