Leovaldo Rosa Lopes, 58, and João Luiz were victims of an attempted murder of knife blows after a woman freaks out on Tuesday afternoon (27), on the main street of the Olária neighborhood, in the municipality of Plácido de Castro, interior of Acre.
According to witnesses, a woman identified only as Carla, 37, who already has a history of mental problems and is a patient at Acre’s Mental Health Hospital (Hosmac), was at her home when employees of Placido de Castro City Hall arrived in the morning to perform a hole work at the site.

In the afternoon, bothered by the noise of the machinery, Carla had an outbreak, took a knife, ran towards the workers and injured the first victim, João Luiz, on his right arm. The young man, an employee of the Municipal Communication Secretariat, was in place recording images of the team of the Secretariat of Works for institutional use of the City Hall. After being hit, João Luiz managed to escape the street, being chased by his wife, who could not reach him.
Following, Carla still returned with the knife in her hand. At this point, Leovaldo, who was operating a machine and was crouching, did not notice the confusion due to the noise of the engines. He was struck around his neck with a horizontal cut and also fled the street to avoid being killed. Carla, who is Leovaldo’s niece, has previously presented outbreaks, according to family reports.
After the attack, the two workers were rescued by teammates, while the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and sent a basic support ambulance to provide the first calls. Both were referred to Doctor Manoel Marinho Monte Hospital. João Luiz received six points on his right arm and remained under observation. Leovaldo, despite having the sewn cut, suffered injury in an important vein of the neck, which caused active bleeding. After compressive dressing, it was transferred to the Rio Branco Emergency Room for evaluation with a cardiovascular specialist, and may need surgical intervention.
After stabbing the workers, Carla remained sitting at the door, awaiting the arrival of the Military Police.
Given the facts, the woman was arrested and was taken to the Placido de Castro Civil Police Station, where she remains available to the courts. However, as it is considered “incapable” legally for her mental health condition, she should not suffer criminal sanctions or be arrested.
According to reports from residents, Carla lives in residence with her children.
