Aphids are bothersome pests that can attack our beloved flowers in the garden. These small, feeding insects can in a short time weaken the plants, causing leaf deformation, growth inhibition, and even dying of plants. That is why it is so important to be able to recognize them quickly, know how to fight them effectively and how to prevent them from returning. What do they look like and where are they feeding? Aphids are small insects (usually 1-3 mm long) with a soft body and different colors-green, black, yellow, pink and even white. They are most common on young shoots, leaves and flower buds. Due to the fact that aphids usually hide on the underside of the leaves, it is difficult to see them in time. And due to the fact that voracious pests can weaken the plant in a short time, leading to deformation of buds, leaves and inhibition of growth, you need to get rid of them as soon as possible from our flowers. In such a situation, it is worth preparing and spraying the attacked plants in the garden. Literally three ingredients are enough to effectively.
A home way to aphid on flowers. Spraying of baking soda
Preparation on flowers is really simple and you will prepare it yourself. You need baking soda, rapeseed oil and water.
Recipe for spraying on aphids:
- Melt 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 liter of hot water.
- Add 1 teaspoon of rapeseed oil that works as an emulsifier, helping the solution better adhere to the leaves.
- Mix thoroughly and pour into a bottle with an atomizer.
Use of spraying:
- Spray the entire plant thoroughly, especially places where aphids occur (young shoots, leaves, flower buds).
- Spray the plants early in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is not too strong. Avoid spraying in full sun, because the baking soda solution can cause burn leaves.
- Repeat spraying even every day until the aphids are completely ridiculed.
