Amazon has announced the formation of the Zeroone team, led by J Allard, former Microsoft executive and one of Xbox’s creators, with the aim of developing innovative consumer products that can create new categories in the market. The information is from CNBC.
The group is distributed among the American cities of Seattle, San Francisco and Sunnyvale and should act on both hardware and software projects, as indicated recent job openings released by the company.
The name Zeroone refers to the team’s mission to transform emerging ideas into real products, from “zero to one”.

The new team intends to accelerate innovation by working on small and agile teams to explore disruptive technologies, including, according to one vacancies, computer vision techniques for smart home products.
J Allard, who left Microsoft in 2010 after 19 years, joined Amazon in September 2024 and responds directly to Panos Panay, former Microsoft who took the lead of Amazon’s device and service division in 2023.
In addition to Allard, the team has experienced professionals from other areas of Amazon, such as Alexa, Luna (Cloud Games Service) and Halo (Sleep Monitoring Device).
