Attempted gasolineira robbery in Spain ends with a robbery “watered” with pepper gas

In Águilas, in southern Spain, a man was arrested after trying to rob a service station using a firearm. What seemed to be a well -planned crime eventually ran bad when staff at the post reacted unexpectedly, using pepper gas to prevent theft.

The incident took place in a peripheral area of Murciana and involved a hooded individual who, upon entering the premises, threatened workers with a gun, demanding cash money. Instead of accepting the orders, the two employees chose to resist, facing the aggressor with pepper gas, forcing him to flee his hands to shake.

Video surveillance images, in the meantime released by the authorities, show the moment of the frustrated attempt and the determined response of the employees, who managed to destabilize the robber.

The investigation carried out by Guardia Civil revealed that the suspect had moved to the scene in a stolen car in Terreros-Corpí, in the neighboring province of Almería, two days before the crime. After data crossing and testimonial collection, it was possible to identify the author as an individual already referenced by the authorities.

The detention was made three days after the theft of the vehicle by the local police of Aguilas, who was able to intercept the suspect. The stolen car was recovered and returned to its legitimate owner.

The case is now being dealt with in court, with the detainee to answer for attempted theft with intimidation and theft of a motor vehicle.
