Former AGU minister (Attorney General of the Union) Bruno Bianco told this Thursday (29) to the (Supreme Court) that the former president asked him if there would be legal means to question the result of the 2022 elections.
The meeting would have occurred in the presence of the armed forces commanders.
The defense of the former minister included former ministers of his government to give testimony as witnesses in the process in which the.
“The President of the Republic was specific about how the electoral election had occurred, asked me if there was a legal problem, if I glimpsed a problem or something that could be questioned. I said it was absolutely transparent and these were my considerations, and the president, at least in front of me, was satisfied,” said Bianco.
Still according to his report, Bolsonaro called him in the Planalto Palace and the conversation would have been quick. “Except better judgment was in the palace (…), but the president asked me even standing and it was a very brief interaction. I even thought we were to talk about transition,” said Bianco.
Bruno Bianco headed AGU from August 2021 to December 2022. In the government, he was also a special deputy secretary of Social Security and Work of the Economy, Special Secretary of the Economy, and for a few days, executive secretary of the Ministry of Social Security.
The hearing in the Supreme on Thursday provided for the participation of former Minister (AGU), (), (Secretariat of Government), (CGU) and (mines and energy). The former two of the Union Attorney General would also give testimony.
Guedes, Celio and Adler, however, missed the hearing. Anderson Torres’s defense gave up the testimony of the former ministers.
Bolsonaro government members were called to testify especially to contest the version of (Attorney General’s Office) that a July 2022 meeting discussed scoup scenery.
The recording of the meeting was found by the Federal Police among the digital archives maintained with Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid. The video shows the moment when Anderson Torres receives the word after Bolsonaro raises scammer discussions.
“And Bolivia’s example is the great example for all of us. Gentlemen, everyone will fuck! I want to make it clear,” said Torres.
Former CGU minister Wagner Rosario spoke for about ten minutes to the Supreme. He was only questioned by the defense of Torres, focusing on the ministerial meeting of July 2022.
According to the minister, the main theme of the meeting was the discussion of how institutions should act in the face of the approach of the electoral process. Wagner said the goal was to find possible weaknesses in the electronic ballot boxes and remedy them.
No evidence of fraud was identified by the supervisory entities, who had 12 months to conduct audits in the source code of the electoral system and followed all processes related to the sealing of the polls and the execution of the claim.
“Some institutions were supervising entities of the electoral process, and situations of problems were discussed in these systems and how institutions could act,” he said.
Bianco said he did not exactly remember the topics discussed at the meeting. He said he was summoned to the meeting to talk about the booklet traditionally produced by AGU about prohibited conduct for public agents during the electoral process.
He said, however, that the meeting had no coup content. “We were in a pre-election period, there was fierce dispute. There was position on which postures were prohibited in the election period, but I didn’t see any questions that indicated rupture,” he said.
Before talking about the meeting with Bolsonaro, Bianco was asked if some of those involved in criminal investigations conducted under the Supreme Court sought it during the government to find out the legality of any measures taken against members, which he denied.
“The consultations are absolutely formal. The General Advocacy of the Union is an institutional body with specific attributions in the Constitution. All consultations that were made are public. There was no consultation regarding personal issues,” he replied.
The AGU also has the attribution to represent authorities. Thus, according to him, often authorities submitted to any kind of process could use the agency.
“The General Advocacy of the Union made a sieve with total governance and that doesn’t even arrive at the Attorney General. And then the lower instances decide whether or not they defend. But there is no consultation in this regard,” he said.
The Supreme enters Thursday on the ninth day of hearings to hear the witnesses of the process about the attempted coup. The court has reserved two more days for the statements.
The governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), and former minister and Senate Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) are among the witnesses listed to give testimony on Friday (30).
