Candidate to head PT equals BC Management to Campos Neto – 28/05/2025 – Panel

Candidate for president of, the federal deputy released on Tuesday (27) a letter to the militancy of the party in which he criticizes the current management of the Central Bank, which would be an extension of the previous presidency, by Roberto Campos Neto.

“The current monetary policy has been a continuity of the management of Campos Neto and must be criticized for being a serious obstacle to national development, transferring huge riches to financial capital,” says Falcão, who has presided over the party twice (1993-94 and 2011-17).

In the text, he does not name nominally but his criticisms are another sign of shudder in the party’s relationship with the head of the monetary authority, nominated last year by the post.

So far, the petistas had been giving glypole confidence credit, for offering a contrast to Campos Neto, seen as a scholarship.

Falcão seeks to return to the presidency, in the internal election scheduled for July, with a platform on the left of what is defended by former minister Edinho Silva, representative of the dominant current of the party, building a new Brazil.

But even among Edinho supporters there are critical voices to the Central Bank. Last Monday (26), “the circuit between the Central Bank and Faria Lima, which increasingly concentrates income, via the unique high interest in the world.”

In his letter, Falcão also says that the PT should not support any proposal that reduces the rights of the working classes, defends the Chavista regime in Venezuela and the boycott of Israel as long as the “genocide” in Palestine, among other points.
