The Transport Department is negotiating with carriers associated in the Union of Transporters of Slovakia (UNAS), who are preparing a protest blockade of the Brodské border crossing since Sunday 1 June 2025. The aim is to meet them and prevent restrictions in transport, the Ministry of Transport (MD) of the Slovak Republic reported on Thursday.
The first requirement of carriers is the obligation of MD not to increase tolls by the end of the current parliamentary term. “By 2019, there was a legislative mechanism through which toll rates were regularly valorized every year. If this mechanism of valorisation continued, it would mean that carriers would pay about € 310 million more on myth,” Explained by Minister of Transport Jozef Ráž (Direction-SD nominee).
Added that during the negotiations During 2024 with carriers, MD committed that the toll will not increase by the end of the current parliamentary term, ie even valorise. On the other hand reminded that The vast majority of the European Union States increases the rate every year.
“At the same time, I have to say that the increase in tolls will not be up to 1 7th 2025, ie that carriers had more than a year to adapt to the conditions according to the new European Directive Eurovignette, The carriers have received the maximum possible time to adapt to new conditions, ” The minister stated. “In accordance with the above, we can confirm the promise of MD that we will not increase tolls by the end of the parliamentary term,” underlined.
The second requirement of hauliers is the merger of toll rates for EURO 0 – IV emission classes. The resort stressed that The merger of such emission classes is contrary to the Eurovignette Directive on the new myth and is contrary to the Nature Conservation Strategy and the Security of Emergency and Sustainable Transport. The transposition of the Directive into our law should have been processed on the basis of professional analyzes of the academic community.
Despite the above, the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic will address the European Commission next week The question of whether it would be possible to unify emission classes 0 – IV and at the same time whether such action will be ensured by compliance with the transposition of this new directive.
