Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj claims that China has stopped selling drones to Ukraine and other European countries, but continues to deliver to Russia. Bloomberg reported on Thursday, TASR writes.

Greens on Tuesday in front of a group of journalists stated that Chinese drones Mavic are available for the Russians but not for the Ukrainians. He added that there are also production lines on Russian territory, where there are representatives of the Chinese company producing this type of drone.

Mavic drones are intended for civilian use, in armed conflicts – such as war in Ukraine – are often used for research, targeting and in some cases and as well as explosive carriers. They are popular for their availability, ease of control and good image quality.

Limited the production of components

According to an unnamed source from Europe, with which Bloomberg spoke, the Greenks’ claim also corresponds to the evaluations of the situation within the EU. The source stated that China apparently also limited the supply of some components of the drone’s western customers – eg. Magnets used in engines -while the volumes of supply to Russia increases.

Beijing rejects that it would supply weapons to any party of the conflict in Ukraine, and claims that the export of dual -use goods that could be used for military purposes is under control.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bloomberg in connection with these revelations reiterated that “the attitude of China to the question of Ukraine is consistent and clear: we are for the end of the war and we support peace negotiations.”

In the summer of 2024 Beijing announced a ban on the export of all civil drones that can be used for military purposes, and in December 2024 Bloomberg informed that China began to limit the sale of key components of drones to the US and Europe. At the same time, Russian and Chinese companies have begun to cooperate on the development of the offensive drone, which with its features resembles Iranian unmanned aircraft type Shahid, which the Russian army uses in the war against Ukraine.
