Discussion of transaction tax in full swing: MEPs discussed the proposals for changes

MPs of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic ended on Thursday the third meeting day of the current 35. The meeting discussing the proposal of changes in transaction tax on the coalition CIS workshop. The debate on the proposal in the first reading is not yet over, it should continue on Friday (30 May).

Nationals in the amendment to the Act on financial transactions, they propose that this tax can be abolished from October for sole traders and small companies with a turnover of up to EUR 100,000. There is no agreement on these changes in the government coalition, but they are supported by the opposition. If the proposal went to the second reading, it should definitely decide on the September meeting of Parliament.

On Friday morning, MEPs should start negotiations with a series of proposals from the workshop of the Ministry of Justice (MS) of the Slovak Republic. It is an amendment to the Criminal Code and the Act on the Judicial Academy, as well as the Act on Bankruptcy and Restructuring or the Act on Judge and Judges. MEPs will not vote on Friday, the next vote will be waiting next week on Tuesday (3 6th).
