Elon Musk announced on Wednesday his departure from Donald Trump’s team, after being “disappointed” with the new fiscal and budgetary plan of the Republican President, which he accuses of “undermining” his work as an efficiency advisor.
“Now that my scheduled time as a special government employee comes to an end, I want to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce waste expenditure,” Musk said in his X account.
The businessman thus leaves his position at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), an initiative promoted from the White House to cut expense and bureaucracy. “The Doge mission will be strengthened over time,” said Musk, convinced that his principles will penetrate “as a way of life throughout the government.”
