The café basket is a special place for me. I’ve been coming since my studies, I also played my first chanson concerts here. The basket is generally a popular meeting place for the art and cultural scene: writer Elfriede Jelinek, artist Christian Ludwig Attersee, pianist Béla Korény, to name just a few. Of course, you also have to mention the landlady of the basket, actress, performance artist and model Susanne Widl – a real queen of her time. You can immediately feel: The restaurant breathes history. It is not pretentious and luckily it was never overangrated. In addition, it summarizes Vienna quite well. It stands for a certain cosiness. I like to come here to slow down. The classic pastries also always look very tempting, but as a singer I have to discipline something in front of concerts – such as on June 28th at Theater im Park. Too heavy or sweet dishes, but also too much coffee can have a negative impact on singing performance.
