A schedule in Paraíba on Wednesday (28), the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), criticized the government of predecessor Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and said that the population cannot vote for “junk” again.

“We came to the world to convey love, to convey fraternity and solidarity, not to convey hate. So the way is as follows: You can be sure, we will continue to invest in education, the things you need, but we will never vote for what was done in this country in the past government,” said Lula.

The statement was made at the delivery ceremony of the first stretch of the Apodi branch, located in Cachoeira dos Índios, a region that includes the São Francisco River Transposition Plan. The term “junk” had already been used by the president to refer to Bolsonaro earlier, when he was fulfilled in Pernambuco.

Still during the speech, the petista mentioned the predecessor and former Rival at the polls as someone who “blatantly lied” and “fake news.”

“This country will never have a nationalist president, who played with Covid, who blatantly lied, who was fake news every day and lived on his cell phone lying,” he said.

Lula and Bolsonaro can face each other again in the 2026 presidential elections, if the PL politician can reverse the current condition of ineligibility.

On Tuesday, Bolsonaro appeared in a PL video defending the installation of the Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to investigate fraud in retirees and pensioners of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).

The former Mandator even cited Frei Chico, Lula’s brother and vice president of the National Union of Retirees, Pensioners and Elderly of Força Sindical (Sindnapi).

“Even a Lula’s brother is in one of these unions who discounted retirees,” Bolsonaro said.
