According to Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, the high demand for AI (Artificial Intelligence) was what boosted the company’s sales, which became the 2nd most valuable in the world in 2025.
“The global demand for Nvidia AI infrastructure is incredibly strong […]. Countries around the world are recognizing AI as an essential infrastructure – but as electricity and the internet – and Nvidia is at the center of this profound transformation ”said Huang in the company’s statement.
Despite high growth in profit and revenue, Nvidia had an expense of $ 4.5 billion due to excess stock of the H20 chip, one of the company’s main components that can be sold in China.
Since 2022, the US government has applied restrictions that prevent Nvidia from selling advanced AI chips to China. The H20 is a less improved version that seeks space in the Chinese market even with US blockages.
On April 9, President Donald Trump (Republican Party) began demanding the license to sell the H20 chip in China, which cut part of the company’s overall revenue.
For the 2nd quarter, the company expects total revenue of $ 45 billion. The expectation is more moderate because of the $ 8 billion that the company projects to lose with the US government’s tariff rules.
