Minister Cristiano Zanin of (Supreme Federal Court) authorized on Thursday (29.MAI.2025) the removal of a judge of 1st instance of Mato Grosso because of suspected sales of court decisions. The STF was based on the 8th phase of the PF (Federal Police), which served search and seizure warrants on suspicions of marketing court decisions.
Magistrate Ivan Lúcio Amarante, from Vila Rica County, is investigated for a possible money laundering scheme. The PF has executed 3 search and seizure warrants in different MT locations. The judiciary determined the blockade of R $ 30 million in assets related to the case.
The investigation began with the identification of evidence of irregular payments and financial operations that would benefit relatives of the judge. According to the PF, the resources would have originated in a company belonging to lobbyist Andreson de Oliveira Gonçalves, who is arrested
Gonçalves, allegedly linked to the scheme, is detained on charges of leading a criminal organization. He is investigated for involvement with advisors to the STJ (Superior Court of Justice) and other courts.
On Wednesday (28.MAI), the PF had triggered another phase of the same operation to deepen the investigations of corruption in the Mato Grosso judiciary.
The action resulted in the arrest of the alleged principal of the murder of lawyer Roberto Zampieri and the discovery of one to spy and murder authorities, including STF ministers. It also led to the removal of the judges Sebastião de Moraes and João Ferreira do TJMT (Court of Justice of Mato Grosso).
Judge Ivan Lúcio Amarante already responds to an administrative proceeding in the CNJ (National Council of Justice). During this procedure, the magistrate’s defense argued that his name was improperly mentioned in the lobbyist’s conversations and denied any irregularity. The judge’s lawyers were not located by this digital newspaper to comment on the new accusations.
