The 10 highest statues in the world

They are almost all Buddhists (and they are all on the Asian continent). The largest in the world is twice the size of Big Ben – we are smaller than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s pinky.

When we think of large statues, we can remember more easily from the Brazilian Christ King or the statue of US freedom.

However, it is in Asia that there are the largest statues in the world.

Since Buddhist honors to Indian Independence icons, all these statues stand out, and yet some may have gone unnoticed.

10. Dai Kannon do Parque Kita

Located in Japan, this is the 10th largest statue in the world, according to the list of. The construction of this Buddhist statue, sponsored by rich benefactors, was completed in 1989 and was the highest in the world until 1991.

It is a statue dedicated to the goddess Guanyin, an important figure of Buddhism linked to mercy and compassion.

9. Sendai Dai Kannon

This statue, the highest ninth in the world, with 92 meters, curiously represents the same figure as the tenth highest statue in the world, also in Japan.

In this representation, Dai Kannon holds something known as the Pedra cintamani – A jewel that fulfills desires, that there is tact in Buddhism as in Hinduism.

4. Vishwas Swaroopam

The statue of belief represents the Hindu God Shiva sitting in meditation. It is the highest of this God, and was only completed in 2020 and open to the public in 2022.

3. Laykyun Sekkya

This statue is in the village of Khatakan Taung, in Myanmar and is peculiar, consisting of… two statues, in one. They are called Buddha Lakykyun Sekkya and show Gautama Buddha in two alternate states: they represent the Buddhist scene of the “Parirvana”-the death of those who hit Nirvana.

It stands out for its height of 115.8 meters and the golden color, with colorful details.

2. Spring Temple Buddha

The “Spring Temple Buddha” is close to a thermal source in China, and is currently the second largest statue in the world, and also enters the list of Buddhists “giants”.

It is found in the municipality of Zhaocun, in Lushan County, and represents the cosmic Buddha (or Vairocana Buddha) standing on a lotus throne. It is 128 meters.
