Asparagus is a treasure for your health and also a diet: Do you know how to store it best in the refrigerator?

Asparagus contains a number of vitamins and minerals, strengthens immunity, counteracts inflammation, drains and promotes digestion. The Regional Office of Public Health (RÚVZ) Bratislava pointed out this on the social network.

“Asparagus is rich in vitamins – A, B1, B2, C, E, minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium, copper, selenium and antioxidants,” said Zuzana Klinčáková from the health counseling of RÚVZ Bratislava. It is also a good source of fiber and contains few calories, so it is successfully applied in dietary mastering and obesity. “Asparagus contains asparagine, which has diuretic effects, so it is recommended for kidney diseases,” added Klinčáková.

According to experts, it is advisable to adjust the fresh as soon as possible after harvesting. As they said, it can be stored in a wet cloth in a refrigerator for about five days without losing its positive properties. “The asparagus is cleaned from top to bottom except the head. It is suitable for soups, salads, risotto or as a side dish or even with butter,” the office added.

People with increased blood uric acid content should consume asparagus with caution. “This vegetable contains purines, so you can be affected by a gout attack,” the office explained.
