The Medical Trade Union (LOZ) asks the dismissal of the director of the University Hospital Bratislava (UNB) Alexander Mayer. He criticizes him for the procedure for a doctor who was supposed to work under the influence of drugs in UNB. It talks about the misconduct in drug testing. According to him, the failure of adequate evidence could not be prosecuted. He called on the Minister of Health Kamil Šaška (Voice-SD) to inflict responsibility to the director of the UNB. At Friday’s press conference, the head of the medical unionists Peter Visolajský and the Vice -Chairman of the Association Miroslav Mendel informed.

The director, according to the prosecutor’s office and the police, cowed the testing and, unfortunately, the evidence provided by the hospital was not adequate to continue prosecution. Given the cowardly testing of the hospital director, the criminal complaint was rejected, ”Visolajský said.

Medical trade unionists criticized that Mayer did not file a criminal complaint on the day of the incident, although he became aware of it without delay. “The management of the hospital has not filed a criminal complaint at all. We have fulfilled this obligation,” Visolajský argued. Loz also objected to the fact that UNB chief did not call a police patrol, not requested to secure a person and withdrawal of a sample of urine and blood under his supervision and did not perform a quantitative analysis to detect the amount of drug in the urine.

In this context, according to the Association, the question is, whether it was the intention of the director or his inability to. Asks the Mayer’s appeal. He called on the head of the health sector to infer immediate personnel responsibility towards the hospital management and set standards for hospitals on the procedure for suspected work under the influence of drugs. “The patient in the Bratislava hospital, but also everywhere else, cannot feel safe as we do not have standard procedures as in such situations. And we cannot accept it,” Visolajský said. Medical trade unionists also appealed to the prosecutor’s office. Insist on continuing the prosecution.

Police in May for TASR confirmed that In this case, she refused a criminal complaint. She argued that it was not possible to prove that the suspected person carried out activities under the influence of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator was filed in this context in early March.
