Car explosion leaves hospital without energy for five hours in RJ

One burning car caused a Interruption in the supply of electricity in the Colubandê neighborhoodin São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, on the night of Thursday (29).

The fire hit the region’s power grid, leaving several homes without light and directly affecting the Alberto Torres State Hospital, which remained without power for about five hours. Internet supply was also compromised.

The incident occurred around 9:40 pm, after a possible explosion of the vehicle on José Lopes Raposo Avenue, near a supermarket and a car dealership.

According to the Fire Department, there was no record of injuries. The teams were called in to contain the flames, which completely consumed the vehicle. Shared images on social networks show the car destroyed by fire.

The concessionaire responsible for energy distribution was called to the site and normalized the service around 3 am on Friday (30).

The causes of the explosion are still being investigated.
