The 21-year-old Mexican from the UAE team finished on Friday after 166 km from Biella to Champoluc in the day victory of the Frenchman Nicolas Prodhomme (Decathlon AG2R) as second just before his competitor Richard Carapaz (EF). Del Toro parried the attacks of the Ecuadorian on the 19th stage with almost 5,000 meters of altitude and is now ahead of the overall ranking 43 seconds.
