A group of about 20 robbers broke into a high standard building in Vila Sônia, in the Morumbi region, in the south of, at the end of the morning of Thursday (29), and practiced a trawler, stealing several apartments. They managed to escape before the police arrived, and until the publication of this report no one had been identified. According to police, clocks, jewelry, electronic devices and money were stolen, causing loss of $ 1.2 million. No one was injured. The criminal action began at 5:20 am, when six bandits appeared already inside the condominium, located on Criticia Street. They surrendered a janitor who began the office hours and locked it in the guardhouse, where a doorman was also arrested. According to residents, the criminals would have entered after cutting a fence with barbed wire that is in the back of the building.
Other cronies entered the building, all using hoods and carrying pistols or revolvers, and waited residents to leave to surrender them as well. As people appeared, they were surrendered and trapped in the garage then their apartments were invaded and robbed. Thieves collected value and money, including foreign currency. Residents reported having been threatened to death, but none of them were beaten. The gang fled after staying in the building for about three hours, and only then was the Military Police called. The case was registered in the 89th DP (Jardim Taboão), which investigates the case.
Wave of robberies
Morumbi was the region that most recorded theft of homes in the 1st quarter, according to a survey based on the microdates provided by the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
