President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) said on Wednesday, 28, that “God left the backlands without water” because he knew he would be elected president. “It had been 179 years since water was promised for this region. The statement, which occurred at the inauguration of one of the works of the São Francisco River transposition, in the municipality of Cachoeira dos Índios (PB), is not the first speech of the president putting himself in great proximity or even compared to God and Jesus.
