The tourist activity in the Algarve registered in April homologous climbs in the number of guests, overnight, profit and passengers who passed through Faro Airport, reinforcing the position of the region as the destination of “Excellence”, said the Algarve Tourism.

The region last month had a “strong growth” in tourist activity, which was reflected in the data revealed by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and which accounted for the reception of 492,000 guests in the region’s accommodation units, which represents a “10.1% increase over the same month of the previous year,” said Turismo do Algarve in a statement.

This climb was “driven by Easter holidays”, which this year was celebrated in April, and was mainly felt in the volume of “non -resident guests, with a growth of 10.6%”, a value that exceeded 8.6% growth with residents, needed.

“With regard to overnight, the region accounted for a total of 1.86 million in April, representing an increase of 11.3% in homologous terms,” ​​said Algarve tourism, figuring the growth of residents in 11.6% and not resident tourists in 11.2%.

Regional tourism pointed out that, “in accumulated since the beginning of the year, the Algarve has a 0.9% growth in this indicator.”

The results were also positive, “with total profits to reach about 129 million euros,” and suffered a “significant increase of 16.1% over the same month of 2024”.

“From January to April, growth in profits is 4.7%,” added the Algarve tourism, establishing the values ​​of the middle stay in the region at 3.77 nights and stressing that this is one of the “highest in the country”, which has a national average of 2.50 nights, compared.

“Among the highlighted municipalities, Albufeira led with 678,000 sleeping in April, registering a global growth of 4.8%, driven by non -residents of non -residents (+7.6%). Other municipalities also had remarkable performances, namely Portimão (+26.2%), lagoon (+15.7%), lakes (+15.5%) and Loulé (+8.7%), pointed out.

The number of passengers who passed the Gago Coutinho International Airport in Faro also registered a “very positive evolution”, said the regional body, stressing that the total of one million passengers registered in April “corresponds to an increase of 13.6% compared to the same month of 2024”.

The accumulated growth of the first four months of the year was 8.1%, he said.

“These results not only reinforce the position of the Algarve as a tourist destination of excellence, but also highlight our ability to adapt and resilience in an extremely competitive international context,” said the president of Algarve Tourism, André Gomes, quoted in the statement.

The results demonstrate “the effectiveness of regional strategies for the promotion and diversification of tourism supply”, said André Gomes, reaffirming the goal of continuing the work to affirm the Algarve as “a pillar of the national economy and an example of success in sustainable evolution of the tourist sector”.
