The governor of, (Republicans), denied the (Supreme Court) this Friday (30) any coup articulation during the end of the government ().

During the testimony as a witness in the case of the 2022 coup plot, the former minister of infrastructure quoted to run for presidential election next year praised the former president and said his concern in the period was “to go out.”

“The only comment [de Bolsonaro] It was that it regretted. It was a period of difficult situations, serious crises, Brumadinho, Covid, Water Crisis, Ukraine War and all of them in the best way possible, we ended up with surplus. The concern was that it would go out, a concern for the country’s future, “he said.

In a short participation, less than 10 minutes, Tarcisio said he met Bolsonaro on November 15 and 19 and 10, 14 and 15 December 2022.

“We also talked about the assembly of the secretariat here in Sao Paulo. And we always talked about it basically. The president has always been with me to guide, worried that I hit too, also concerned with conveying his experience,” he said.

Only lawyer Celso Vilardi of Bolsonaro’s defense asked the governor’s questions. The defenses of the other defendants, the Attorney General of the Republic, and the minister chose not to ask questions.

The strategy of extolling the Bolsonaro government during a hearing in the Supreme was also used by Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), former Minister of the Civil House. Nominated as witness to Anderson Torres, the politician said he was guided by the former president to make the transition from government.

“The transition disappointed us for the lack of interest in information about the country. But it was all within normal, the President [Bolsonaro] At no point did I want to hinder the transition, “said Ciro.

Tarcisio was Minister of Infrastructure from January 2019 to March 2022. He left office to run for the São Paulo government under the blessing of Bolsonaro. He was one of the members of the first most acclaimed echelon by the former president, with whom he had a close relationship.

The pocket governor has repeated allies who never heard the former president talk about a coup, while and was next to Bolsonaro in some of the most acute moments of undemocratic attacks on institutions.

By defending Bolsonaro in the face of Federal Police investigations, Tarcisio has said that “the president respected the outcome of the election”, which never occurred, and that Lula’s possession “happened in full normality and respect for democracy”, which is also another distortion in the face of facts.

The former minister went at least five times to the dawn palace at the end of 2022, after Bolsonaro loses his election to Lula (PT), according to records of the ordinance of the official residence of the Presidency of the Republic.

The governor’s testimony was one of the most anticipated. Even out of government in the last months of 2022, Tarcisio was alongside Bolsonaro in some of the most sharp moments of undemocratic attacks on institutions.

Tarcisio has already stated Bolsonaro’s attacks on the electronic ballot box, remained silent alongside the ally during part of these demonstrations and minimized the former president’s verbal aggressions to the STF. On the other hand, the governor tries to balance himself between a cordial relationship with court ministers and the Bolsonarist base.

One of the expectations generated before the statement was about what Moraes interaction with Tarcisio would be like. The two have a good relationship. The Supreme Minister, however, has been hard in the testimonies with witnesses who distort facts narrated in the complaint or who give opinions to defend allies.

Moraes’s profile was evident with, in court and reached the apex when due to contempt.

In the presidency, it caused crises between the powers, and stimulated with lies and yields a campaign to discredit the country’s electoral system.

After the defeat to Lula, he encouraged the creation and maintenance of the scammers who spread across the country and gave rise to the attacks of January 8.

In this same period, he adopted conduct that he contributed to his hopeful supporters that he would remain in power and, met with nearby military and advisers to discuss ways to intervene in the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) and nullify the elections.

Bolsonaro’s defense denies the former president’s participation in crimes and argues, between criticism of the complaint, that there is no evidence of connection between the supposed conspiracy that began at the Planalto Palace in June 2021, and the vandalism of 8 January 2023.
