Keith Kellogg emphasizes the need for diplomatic solutions on Ukraine and NATO, while negotiations are transferred to Turkey.
US President Donald Trump’s envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg on Thursday evening marked the concerns of Russia for the extension of the North Atlantic Alliance to the East as justified. According to him, the United States is not interested in joining Ukraine into NATO, TASR writes according to the Reuters report.
“We said that we are not entering NATO on the table for us, and we are not the only country that says – you know, I would probably be able to name you four other NATO countries,” he noted in an interview with ABC, saying that all 32 Member States of the Alliance’s Member States are required. “This is one of the topics that Russia will certainly open,” he added.
Russia and NATO expansion
“(Russians) are not only talking about Ukraine, but also talking about Georgia, they talk about Moldova,” Kellogg said, saying that Trump must make a decision on Washington’s views on NATO expansion.
The American envoy for Ukraine also revealed that a series of peace interviews will include an attempt to merge two memoirs drawn up by Ukraine and Russia into one document, while negotiations will take place on Monday in Turkey.
Peace negotiations in Turkey
“When we get to Istanbul next week, we sit down and talk,” Kellogg said, adding that the Memorandum talks with the United States will be joined by national security advisors from Germany, France and Britain.
Kellogg also said that Trump is “frustrated” from Russia because he saw “some degree of unreasonicness” by President Vladimir Putin. He blamed Moscow for hitting Ukrainian cities. In his words, Ukraine told him to come to negotiations.
