The United States Department of Justice sent a letter to Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court (STF), in response to the magistrate’s order for the American social network to Rumble to block a user’s profiles. The information was released on Thursday, 29, by the newspaper The New York Timeswhich said he had access to the content of the document.
“The Justice Department told Minister Alexandre de Moraes that he could apply the laws in Brazil, but could not order companies to obey specific orders in the United States,” the letter says, according to the US publication.
According to the newspaper, the document was reportedly sent to the minister after the suspension of the Rumble social network in Brazil in February this year. The company failed to comply with the judicial determination that required the appointment of a legal representative in Brazil, which did not occur.

The clash between the minister and Rumble began after the platform refuses to block the profile of the Blocking Blogger Allan dos Santos, who is on the run from Brazilian authorities. Investigated by dissemination of fake news and attacks on STF members, he has had his profiles suspended on other social networks.
At the time, the platform CEO, Chris Pavlovski, reacted to the decision on X (former Twitter), stating that he would not abide by the court order. “Instead, we’ll see ourselves in court. Sincerely, Chris Pavlovski,” he published.
O The New York Times He informed the letter was sent to the minister this May. The newspaper said it sought Alexandre de Moraes’s spokesman, but that the magistrate preferred not to comment on the case.
