Acre stood out among Brazilian states with the largest increase in electricity consumption in the first four months of 2025. According to a survey by the Electricity Marketing Chamber (CCEE), the state recorded a 9% advance compared to the same period last year, drawing with Maranhão at the top of the national ranking.
This growth happens in a context of expanding the use of renewable sources in the country. Between January and April, solar and wind power generation increased considerably. Wind plants produced 25.7% more energy than in the same period as 2024, while solar had an even higher elevation of 31.9%. These advances have been fundamental to meet the growing demand.

Despite Acre’s expressive performance, the national scenario had a more modest growth: average energy consumption in Brazil rose 1.3% in the first quarter. In total, the country used an average of 73.5 average gigawatts (GWM). February was the month with the highest demand, driven by an intense heat wave, with consumption reaching 77 GWM.
The residential and small business sector, which makes up the so -called regulated market, had a 4.1%retraction, impacted by milder temperatures and rain increased in some regions. On the other hand, the free market – where companies choose their own energy suppliers – up 10.7% in consumption, reinforcing a migration trend that intensified by 2024, when the number of new consumers in this mode tripled compared to 2023.
Another data that draws attention is the sectoral performance: the sanitation sector led the high in consumption, with a jump of 44.7%. Services and commerce also had relevant increases of 23.8% and 19.1%, respectively.
In Acre, growth may be related to the recovery of economic activity, the expansion of industrial and infrastructure projects, and the growing use of technologies that require more electricity.
