Alice Videl, a co -chair of the far -right Alternative for Germany (), today praised the Hungarian Prime Minister, describing him as a “lighthouse of freedom” at an international conference of far -right, populists and supporters of Russia in Budapest.
Speaking in English, Weidel said, “The wind of change is blowing.”
Referring to the German Intelligence Service’s decision to describe the AFD, which took second place in the February elections, Videl said: “They spy on the opposition, constructing a pretext to outlaw our party.”
In warm applause from the conference audience, the head of the German far -right stressed that the moves to ban the AfD by German courts would not prevail.
The anti -immigration party appealed to justice by questioning the decision of the Internal Information Service.
The conference in Budapest
The annual conference in Budapest is linked to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the US. Orban uses the conference to promote networking between international far -right organizations. One common element is the positive attitude towards Russia’s Russia.
This year, the conference is attended by the head of the Austrian far -right Freedom Party Herbert Kikl, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitso and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kompachitz.
